Privacy Policy

DeenUnlock is a Muslim app blocker and worship companion for iOS and Android. It helps you restrict access to distracting apps until you complete an Islamic practice — prayer, Qur'an, dhikr, du'a, or learning.
The short version: most worship, progress, and protection data stays on your device. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
Permissions we ask for
- Screen Time (iOS) / Accessibility (Android) — to protect the apps and categories you choose.
- Location — to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction for where you are.
- Notifications — to send prayer reminders and streak nudges you turn on.
On Android, the Accessibility permission is used only to enforce the app blocks you set. It is not used to read screen text, collect typed content, inspect private messages, or capture passwords.
What stays on your device
The following is stored locally on your phone and is not required to leave it:
- Your worship completion history and streaks
- Your list of protected apps and categories
- Your location coordinates (used for prayer times / Qibla)
- Your notification and app preferences
Third-party services
To provide certain features, DeenUnlock connects to:
- AlAdhan API — prayer time calculation
- Quran.com — Qur'anic text and audio
- Firebase — anonymous, aggregate analytics and crash reporting. This data is not sold and is not used for advertising.
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Google Gemini API — optional, only when you request an AI-generated du'a
Purchases
Payment is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play together with RevenueCat. DeenUnlock never sees or stores your credit card details.
Your control
You are always in charge. You may:
- Deny or revoke location and notification permissions
- Disable Accessibility access (Android) or Screen Time access (iOS)
- Pause protection at any time
- Reset in-app data, or uninstall the app — which removes local data from your device
Children
DeenUnlock is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy on this page.
