Account & Data Deletion Request

At DeenUnlock, we prioritize user privacy, data sovereignty, and transparency. In accordance with Google Play and Apple App Store user data policies, this page explains how you can request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
Privacy by Design: DeenUnlock does not require a traditional email/password account to operate. Progress backup and device pairing rely on an anonymous, pseudonymous cryptographic identifier stored in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. You have full control to erase all data at any time directly in the app or via this page.
How to Delete Your Account and Data
You can delete your account and associated data through either of the following methods:
Option 1: In-App Immediate Deletion (Recommended)
You can clear your cloud backup data directly inside the app. This keeps data on your phone and does not delete the anonymous Firebase guest account:
- Open the DeenUnlock app on your device.
- Open Settings → Data & Privacy.
- Under Cloud backup, tap Delete cloud backup and confirm.
- The app replaces the stored backup with an empty one and turns backup off on this device. Data on your phone stays.
- Turn backup off on any paired device too, or it can recreate the backup.
- To remove local data as well, use Reset All App Data and confirm. To request deletion of the server record, use the request form below or send your pairing code to support.
Option 2: Online Deletion Request (Without the App)
If you have uninstalled DeenUnlock, cannot access your device, or wish to request server-side record deletion manually, you can submit a deletion request below or email us directly:
What Data is Deleted
Upon receiving an account or data deletion request, the following data is permanently purged:
- Cloud Firestore Backups: All backed up lifetime worship totals, prayer logs, tasbih deed counts, streaks, and Khatm milestones.
- User Notes & Bookmarks: Any saved ayah bookmarks, personal reflection notes, saved du'as, and custom birthday names.
- Device Pairing Links: All active pairing tokens and cross-device sync links.
- Anonymous Analytics IDs: Google Analytics installation identifiers and usage logs associated with the session.
Data Retention Policy & Exceptions
DeenUnlock retains user data only for as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal requirements:
- Backup Deletion Timeframe: Server-side deletion of Cloud Firestore backup records is executed within 30 days of request verification.
- Subscription & Purchase Records: Payments and subscriptions are processed by Google Play (Google LLC) or Apple App Store (Apple Inc.) and RevenueCat. Financial transaction history (such as receipts and order IDs) may be retained by Google, Apple, or payment processors to the extent required by applicable financial, tax, fraud-prevention, and consumer protection laws.
- Zero Advertising Data: DeenUnlock does not sell personal data, does not build advertising profiles, and does not share your information with data brokers.
